Effective Communication

(Have I missed a reel of the movie?)

There are times when we find ourselves in situations and wonder how we got there have I missed a reel of the movie? This experience is common enough in our own families and relationships, it really shouldn’t surprise us that miscommunication is prevalent in organizations.

If we are to truly value diversity in the workplace and all the richness that it brings, then we also need to create the language we require in order to communicate effectively and ensure that we understand each other. We need to learn and practice the art of courageous conversation where we have discussions that otherwise go underground and take on a life of their own.

Group morale, role clarity, challenging work opportunities and team cohesion are directly linked to successfully achieving strategic outcomes. The enthusiasm and productivity resulting from a workplace culture of conversation is nothing short of remarkable.
